Help us open our doors!

Part of the vision at Griot Arts has always been a physical home for our programming and community building around Black art and cultural expression. We now have a wonderful opportunity to plant our first roots in Rochester, MN. The space will be home to our city's first brick & mortar Black-owned bookstore and gallery. And we need YOU, beautiful community, to help us open our doors!

Over the next few months we will be accepting community donations to help make this dream a reality.

Be part of the dream

Help us open our doors to cultivate meaningful connections and experiences centered on celebrating Black art, literature, and cultural expression! Your generous financial support will allow us to achieve the following:

  • SECURE A PHYSICAL HOME | Lease a commercial space in downtown Rochester, MN. We are currently raising funds to cover a full year of rent, utilities, and associated legal and realtor fees

  • OPEN A BOOKSTORE | Source and purchase a rich and diverse inventory of books written by Black and racially-diverse authors with a special focus on representative and culturally-resonant books for adults, children, and young adults.

  • CREATE A WELCOMING SPACE | Build-out and furnish our space so visitors feel seen, celebrated, enriched, and cared for

  • EXHIBIT BIPOC ART + PROGRAMMING | Raise start-up capital for art exhibitions and arts and cultural programming
